JERUSALEM, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese automaker Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) launched a new electric car brand in Israel on Thursday at an event hosted by local importer Orion Mobility near Tel Aviv.
The brand will offer three models: the compact SUVs Aion V and Aion Y, and the mid-size coupe Hyptec HT.
The Aion V comes with a 75.3 kWh battery, a range of up to 510 km, a top speed of 160 km/h, and can fast-charge from 30 percent to 80 percent in 18 minutes. The Aion Y has a 63.2 kWh battery, a maximum range of 410 km, a top speed of 150 km/h, and a 34-minute fast-charge time. The Hyptec HT features a 72.7 kWh battery, a range of 445 km, a top speed of 183 km/h, and fast-charging capability in 28 minutes.
GAC joins a growing number of Chinese carmakers offering electric, gasoline, and hybrid vehicles in Israel. Chinese brands dominated the Israeli electric vehicle market between January and August, accounting for 81.1 percent of sales, or 30,725 cars, according to industry data.
Chinese manufacturers also led overall passenger car imports in the same period, with 65,834 gasoline and electric vehicles sold in Israel. ■
