SAO PAULO, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Five people were killed when a private car and a truck collided head-on Monday night in southern Brazil's Parana state, local authorities said Tuesday.

The state's highway police said the accident occurred on a section of the PR-444 highway in the municipality of Arapongas in northern Parana.

The truck was carrying beer barrels when the two vehicles collided, killing the truck driver and the four people in the car. ■
