KABUL, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Two separate explosions left 11 insurgents from the Taliban and the Islamic State (IS) group dead in Afghanistan on Saturday, officials confirmed.

In the first incident, four militants affiliated with the IS outfit fell victim to their bomb blast as their explosive device went off prematurely in the eastern Kunar province.

According to a statement of the army's 201 Silab Corps stationed in the eastern region, four IS fighters were planting a mine on a road in Chawkai district of Kunar province to strike security convoys, but the device exploded prematurely, killing two on the spot and wounding two others.

Also on Saturday, nine Taliban fighters were killed and another injured as their explosive device exploded prematurely, said Zabihullah Shijah, police spokesman in the northern Baghlan province.

According to the official, 10 Taliban fighters were planting a mine on a road in Qala-e-Naw area outside Baghlan's provincial capital Pul-e-Khumri to target government forces, but the device exploded accidentally, killing nine insurgents on the spot and wounding another.

Neither the Taliban nor the IS outfit has commented on the incidents.
