BEIJING, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese mainland's preferential policies for Taiwan businesses and residents have yielded positive outcomes since their implementation a year ago, a spokesperson said Wednesday.

So far, 72 local governments in 25 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland have taken tailored measures to implement preferential policies for Taiwan compatriots, said An Fengshan, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, at a press conference.

The preferential policies, also known as "31 measures," unveiled by the office and the National Development and Reform Commission in February 2018, cover fields of industry, finance and taxation, land use, employment, education and health care, and are aimed at sharing the mainland's development opportunities with Taiwan.

These measures have facilitated Taiwan compatriots' study, work and life on the mainland, enabled them to enjoy equal treatment as local people, and increased their sense of fulfillment, and further promoted the economic and social integration across the Strait, An said.

Preliminary statistics show that more than 2,000 Taiwan-funded companies have been offered tax incentives by the mainland, over 100 Taiwan enterprises have received financial support for industrial transformation and upgrading, green manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing, and a group of Taiwan businesses won bids for the mainland governments' procurement projects last year.

Moreover, over 800 Taiwan residents have passed the mainland's vocational qualification exams and more than 100 Taiwan compatriots received awards for their outstanding performance in 2018.

The number of young people from Taiwan who pursue studies or employment on the mainland maintained double-digit growth in 2018, the spokesperson said.

An said that a mobile application was released Wednesday to provide Taiwan users with the latest cross-Strait information and details about preferential policies implemented by local governments on the mainland.
