PARIS, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday asked the international community to remain "untied" and "determined" to restore stability in Libya and help fight insurgents that risk to put at risk the security in the region and in Europe doors, the French presidency said.

During phone talks with Libyan Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj, Macron called for common action "against those who seek to slow or undermine the political process to hold elections that Libyan people are waiting for to choose their future leaders..."

Denouncing the attacks against civilians and against legitimate Libyan institutions, the French president vowed to "continue action in the coming weeks with three main objectives: the fight against terrorist groups, the control of migrants flows, implementation of political and electoral calendar...with respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms."

Tripoli, where security has already been volatile, has witnessed a new wave of fatal clashes between government forces and armed militias. Scores were killed in the fighting.

Rival parties on Sept. 4 agreed on UN-sponsored accord to end hostilities.

Since 2011 uprising to oust former leader Muammar Gaddafi, Libya has been plunged into chaotic violence and political instability which has helped the terrorist cell flourish and put the security of the Maghreb region at risk.
